Alpiq is committed to energy production in tune with nature and the environment. We generate 30 percent of our energy from renewable sources, primarily from hydroelectric power stations. 60% of our energy is produced without emitting CO2.

Energy harnessing, transportation and consumption has an impact on the climate and leave traces in the natural environment. We make every effort to reduce such effects to a minimum, in the firm belief that our company's lasting success is closely linked to the principle of sustainability. For instance EOS in 2006 subscribed to the EcoEntreprise® programme and therefore adhered to the principles of sustainable management within the company.

In the interests of eco-compensation, for example, we take an active part in reforestation projects in the vicinity of our construction sites. And when building new high-voltage lines, we make sure that they blend optimally into the landscape.

We are among Europe's pioneers in the marketing of green certificates, and invest in green energy production in various countries.
